Choose to Feel Fabulous!

How amazing life is!

Are you the kind of person who looks at your life and says….WOW, I am living a fabulous life and so very grateful for everyone and everything in it? I truely hope so.

I used to be a person who was very critical and easily found the negative in a situation. This obviously lead to me not feeling terribly fabulous about myself as I perceived my world as less than perfect. Drama in my relationships, health issues and the feeling of the weight of the world on my shoulders was the day to day norm.

Feeling I needed assistance with my health, I sort advice from a well regarded practitioner. He blatantly asked me “do you realise you have the power to control how you feel?” . Well, I was a bit thrown. I always considered myself to be open minded, but this question made me stop and reconsider my whole world. If this was true, and of course it was, then I am the only one responible for how I feel. Sounds so simple, but what were the implications? I could no longer blame someone else and their actions for the way I felt, personally and globally….Wow!

Deciding to explore this idea further, I then discovered that at any moment, no matter what was happening around me, I could CHOOSE to feel great! Yes, it does take practice and is not always easy, but the more you make that conscious decison, the easier it becomes and the better you feel. And if that’s not enough to ring your bell….wait til you see the response you get from others and the way your life begins to shift for the better. Lets be clear though, I don’t choose to be positive to please others. I do it because I want to feel fabulous and I deserve happiness!

Take a little time to explore this idea if it is foreign to you. Let it sink in and then find how empowering it is to take complete responsibily for the way you feel. Life is a journey, so ignore the drama going on around you, focus on yourself and start finding ways to improve the way you feel. You are the only one who can make that choice….isn’t that exciting!

Finding Balance in Your Life

Often people suggest “you need to find balance in your life” to find happiness, and that we should spend so many hours in “this” area of our life, balancing it out with so many hours of “that”.  Will we feel happiness if we tick all the boxes in the right proportions?

It is my theory that it doesn’t matter how much time we spend doing an activity in order to achieve this balance, but rather the happiness factor that is evoked from it. We feel out of sorts and stressed when we spend a lot of time doing an activity we don’t enjoy. So the real issue then becomes, finding the happiness in what you are doing, even if it isn’t really that fun. I know some of you will think that the idea is crazy and near impossible, but finding the positive side and focussing on it, will certainly ease the stress. It does take a little effort and practice at first, but is well worth it. If you are feeling great and having more fun in your life, then you certainly feel more balanced. So try taking a more positive approach and enjoy the little things that make your life so wonderful.

Acheiving Your New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year!

I am feeling very inspired, not only as it is the start of a new year, but the beginning of a new decade! What a fantastic opportunity to set new goals, assess current goals and let go of old inhibiting patterns.

Often our New Years Resolutions don’t make it much past March, as our grand plans are forgotten and the year speedily rolls on. To make a real change and achieve your goals, instead of merely announcing your resolutions, I use the following steps:

1. Make a Clear Decision – Be specific about what is is that you are wanting to achieve. Keep it simple, and prioritise it in your life.

2. Make the Decision Only Once – Don’t allow yourself to constantly go back and forth with your decision, saying ” will I or won’t I today?” Make the decision once and stick to it!

3. Stay Focused - Keep the goal and results you want to achieve in the forefront of your mind. Focus on your achievements and celebrate them. It is important to stay positive and joyful in all aspects of your life, as this brings closer the results you desire.

My personal goals for this year are to allocate time for myself to exercise and relax regularly (being a new mum in 2009, that part of my life definitely got put on the back burner!).  It is all too easy as a parent to put all your energy into your gorgeous children, but looking after yourself definately needs to be a priority. Apart from the obvious benefits of health and sanity, your children learn from your actions.

I would love to hear your goals and New Years Resolutions for 2010. I will check in throughout the year to see how they are coming along. Your focus, drive and determination will inspire others to stay on track and achieve their dreams!

Merry Christmas!

With the hours counting til Christmas, it’s a nice time to stop for a moment, amongst the panic of organisation, and give yourself a pat on the back for all your acheivements this year. After seeing my last client for the year, it suddenly hit me as to how much I have created this year, and what a fabulous, yet tough year it had been.

Kicking off with the birth of my son Zac, certainly set the tone for 2009. Becoming a parent was more than I could ever imagine -  a huge learning curve, weeks of sleep deprivation, fuelled by an amazing and ever growing amount of love.  However, the business had to keep rolling along, which meant a huge juggling act of babysitting between my husband and I. Then, as I started to find my feet as a mother, I decided to keep the creative juices flowing, and grow Greentree Wellbeing into a corporate wellbeing services company, whilst still keeping the clinic operational.

Wow, what a year it has been! I am so so greatful to all my wonderful family, friends and clients, as you have given me the strength to reach for my dreams and to keep focussing on what I love doing. I am so excited about the new year ahead. Never being one for New Years Resolutions, this year I am seriously putting thought into it, as the saying goes – “we are what we focus on on”.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
